I don't normally post work in progress shots, especially not shots of model building unless there is a major conversion but I just have to show this guy off. I remember seeing that the Wraithknight was coming out and just assuming it would be $100 Canadian just like like the Riptide so naturally I was outraged when I saw it would be $140. Now I finally get it as this kit is freaking MASSIVE lol. In pictures you just can't grasp the scale of this model when compared to everything else so I threw in one of the new Wraithguard and a Guardian on his base just to show off his size.
This is the Wraithknight at about 4 hours of work and at this point I still haven't touched his arms or his base. It took another hour to build his two Wraithcannon arms and I am hoping to start the base shortly as well. I am leaving him in pieces (legs, body, head both arms) until I get those pieces painted as he is just way too large to paint all in one shot without an airbrush. This weekend I will start painting him and I will take WIP pics and post them here.
I have also picked up a Crimson Hunter, Hemlock Wraithfighter, a box of Wraithguard and 3 Heavy Support Weapon Platforms. As I showed earlier I am also working to update the bases for this army and hope to finish off the rest of the guardians this week (sigh..another 18 to go of just Guardian Defenders plus another 11 Storm Guardians). Other then picking away at Warmachine here and there bringing my Ulthwe Eldar up to the standard of my other 3 main armies is going to be my priority until its finished. Should be fun! lol

Epic Doomshaper Complete!
Now that I have most of my beasts complete for my small warband I decided it was time to get a Warcaster complete to go with them. Right now I have two Warcasters, Epic Doomshaper and Madrak. I decided since we were doing our "Mangled Tooth" lists (ie just Warbeasts/Warjacks and a caster) I would paint Doomshaper up as he is the Troll's best beast support caster. It also helps that I really like the model.
After processing the pics I realized just how over exposed they are and also coming to the conclusion that my camera phone just isnt getting the job done. Time to go back to the drawing board and get my actual camera up and running again. One of these days I will get pictures of my miniatures that I am actually happy with lol.
Next Up: Switch back to Eldar by taking a look at the codex in how it relates to Ulthwe and some WIP of a Wraithknight!

Something Old, Something New...
Now that the new Eldar book is out the mass re-basing of my entire army has started. I am going to work my way through my basic foot troopers, then through everything else. The nice thing is I have already finished my flying stands for most of my skimmers as well as the flyers. I am also slowly updating the models in this army and doing my "revised" colour scheme mostly due to the fact that none of the paints I used to paint this army originally are still around so I had to change things up considerably. The main things I want to update now are my Wave Serpents as I straight up *hate* the old Forge World ones. I already have one of the new Serpents and I will be getting another one shortly.
So back to the re-basing! Here is a pic of the original Guardians from the 2005 Grand Tournament I attended in Montreal. As you can see they are still VERY 3rd ed with the Goblin Green bases *shudder*. *cant believe I did ALL my bases for all my original armies with Goblin Green. This army fared the best since all the others had Goblin Green gravel too lol (yes, including my Necromunda figs...sigh)*
And here is the pic of the first half being totally re-based with the new style.
The brown rims, grey rocks and the more subdued green/brown grass works considerably better in my eyes with the overall colour scheme of the army. I also really like the fact that with the addition of the "rocks" (just wood bark) I can really change up the heights of the different models which again adds a bit more visual interest. Once I get the Warlocks and weapon platforms finished I think they will look really good.
In addition to updating everything I have also managed to do some trading and I have picked up one of each of the new flyers (freaking LOVE the model, cant wait to paint them), a box of Wraithguard (again, fantastic figs) and I am hopefully getting a Wraithknight soon as well. Feels good to be finally giving this old army some TLC and updating it since it's been sitting in limbo since 2009 when they participated in their last tournament.
Up Next: It's all about Eldar and Trolls. Working on both more or less at the same time but due to the excited of actually having a playable Eldar army again they will probably get the edge lol. I also wanted to talk about my thoughts (NOT a "review") of the book in regards to how it works with a themed Ulthwe Army. Good times!

Pyre Troll...Completed!
I now am only 1 model away from finishing all the beasts in this army (still have an Earthborn Dire Troll). I have never actually painted fire before if you can believe it so with that in mind I am very pleased how it turned out. I am going to paint my first caster this upcoming weekend so I have a "Mangled Tooth" (so nothing but beasts and a caster) which I am pretty stoked for.

Dire Troll Mauler...Complete!
I have steadily been plugging away at my trolls and have almost finished all the beasts. I finished this guy earlier this week and I finished the Pyre Troll this morning. After posting here and on the Privateer Press forum I received a lot of feed back in regards to the base so I went back to the drawing board. I am very happy with the overall result of the Mauler's base and it's what I had hoped the Axer's base (who has since had it changed to look like this) was going to look like. Overall I am actually very pleased with my two recent beasts especially considering each one took roughly 1/4 of the time of the Axer and I feel the overall look, while not as good, is still somewhat close to the point where you would only notice the difference if you picked them both up.
Next Up: As I mentioned above I will be posting my Pyre Troll shortly as well as my first caster (Epic Doomshaper!) then I will be posting a bunch on Eldar including some of the new kits as well as my thoughts on the codex.
