Black Templar Finally

Its taken me months, but I finally painted (whilst waiting for my Nebelwefers to dry) a black Templar. This guy is one of the plastic non posable ones you get in the boxed starter set, so I figured that squad would make a good test bed.

He turned out not bad. I was a little heavy handed with the highlights, and will have to be more subtle as I do more of 'em, but he's certainly table quality. I want to really practice the eyes. That green is just eery!

What are you waitin' for Tommy? For Ze Germans??

Finally finished the Nebelwefers for my FOW army. So the campaign I'll be playing in a week or two should be lots of fun. This got me juiced up enough to start painting my US paras too. Or maybe the Panther Platoon.... I still need to do the dull coat on these guys, and a little touch up here and there (such as shading under the arty pieces), but bascially they are done done done.

Tyranid Army Update #2

My second update for the new Tyranid Army is Brood Lord. I actually did a fair amount of converting on this guy since I want my army to be as WSYWIG as humanly possible. So I cut off his head using a pair of clippers and using green stuff I glued the plastic genestealer feeder tendrils head in its place. I then built up the green stuff around his neck to make it look like part of the model. He also has extended carapace, so I added that as well. He took about 6-8 hours in total and I am very happy with the final product.

Tyranid Army Update #1

Here are a couple of pics of my newly finished 20 man strong unit of Hormagaunts. Unit took about 2 weeks of fairly regular painting, and for these two pics I only took pictures of the ones I liked best in the unit (there are 7 I think). Enjoy!

Big Willie's Grey Knight reinforcements

I've finally started to reinforce the Grey Knight Terminator squad. This is the first of 3 Grey Knights in Power armour squads that I'm painting up. I used armorcast's cinematic effects (muzzle flashes) and some wire on the Justicar's nemesis force weapon to give the squad a more dynamic look. The paint scheme is very simple: armour is fortress grey, codex grey, skull white and the red is red gore, blood red and blazing orange.

I'm going to take a break from the Grey Knights while I polish up the few remaining bits of Imperial Guard I need with the changes from the latest codex. Watch this space for an update on the 411th Cadian Regiment!

The new IG Codex and Demonhunters

With the release of the new guard codex I have been designing several new armies. Before the new 'dex was released I was working on some Grey Knights. I wanted to take this video and turn it into an army.

It occurred to me that having a new IG army with Demonhunters could be made into it and be a little more competitive army. So here is the new army that I'm working towards.

HQ
Coy Comd Squad with 4 Meltaguns (in the forum of multimelta servitors), Master of the fleet, Master of Ordanance and Astropath all in Carapace armour. Coy Comd with Plasma pistol and Power weapon (I will be using the Inq Corteaz model to make this guy, you should recognize hime from the video) mounted in Chimera

Preist with Eviserator

Grey Knight Brother Captain with Psyhic hood and Retinue of 3 Grey Knight Terminators one with a Psycannon

Elites
Inquisitor with Terminator armour, force weapon and psycannon

Troops
Veterans in Carapace with 3 plasmaguns mounted in Chimera
Veterans in Carapace with 3 Meltaguns
8 Grey Knights with 2 Psycannons and teleport homer

Fast Attack
Vendetta
Vendetta

Total just under 1700 pts with 3 scoring units and 13 KPs. I'm planning on taking the video off you tube and downloading (if anyone knows how to do this I would love the insight) it onto my iPod touch so that I can have it playing as part of my army display tray. Questions, comments welcome!

MiniMan's new Tyranid army

As promised here is the first picture of my finished hive tyrant. The entire army is going to be this colour scheme and all the bases are going to be roughly that level of detail. It will mostly be a plains type landscape with rocks, different battle debris and some dead Ultramarines here and there.

So far I just have the Tyrant and 2 Hormagaunts finished being painted and based (basically all test models). I also have a Carnifex, Ravener, Zoanthrope and 18 Hormagaunts built with their bases finished ready to be painted. As I finish more units I will update with more pictures and there will be some "In Progress" type pictures as well as a couple "stage by stage" sets as well. Enjoy!

Oh, and on a side note, I apologize for the grainyness of the pictures, as it stands right now I dont have nearly enough light in my place to shoot minatures properlly, although that should change soon :)
